Blue Dream Retticello
Artists: Chow & PAG
Designed by apprentice and teacher, this delicate piece displays a white retticello pattern against blue dream and crushed opal sections. Crushed opals is a technique where opals are broken into small shards and mixed into the borosilicate glass color. This gives the sections a sparkly gemstone look, and adds a certain level of difficulty to the completion of the piece. The opals aren't made of glass, but have a similar co-efficient of expansion, that allows them to be blended seamlessly with the glass as opals are known to break during manufacturing so finished crushed opal pieces have a certain element of danger in their creation.
